TFOB's reach on Twitter is global
By John Bolton, Arizona Daily Star / November 5, 2010
The Tucson Festival of Books has a global audience, as demonstrated by an online visualization that combines Twitter and Google data.
The interface at mapmyfollowers.com doesn't map all of TFOB's Twitter followers at once, but the accompanying image from the data visualization service will give a hint of the geographic sweep of our Festival. The orange markers on the map (above) show the locations of just a relative handful our followers on Twitter.
As of Nov. 5, the Festival had 1,906 followers on Twitter. They're on every continent except Antarctica, apparently. (Note to Antarctic researchers: the weather's great here in March.)
To follow the Festival, go to twitter.com/tfob and click on the "Follow" button. You'll have TFOB's Twitter updates added to the tweets you receive on your computer, phone or tablet. It's a great way to get news about books, authors and literary events.
If you tweet about the Festival, add the hashtag #TFOB to your tweet so that others who follow the Festival will see it even if they're not following you.
John Bolton is the online editor of the Arizona Daily Star, one of the named sponsors of the Tucson Festival of Books.
